More news about tea's amazing health benefits!
L-theanine is an amino acid found exclusively in tea, naturally.
Recent studies at Oxford University and elsewhere demonstrate a significant link between mental alertness and 2-3 cups a day of tea.
Now, before you go saying, well, yeah, tea has caffeine...It sure does, but the effects are different than coffee, even when caffeine levels are equalized. Not only does tea increase mental sharpness, but it is being proven to uplift mood, and create a state of relaxed alertness.
L-theanine appears to be the reason for the calming, yet uplifting effects of tea. It has been shown in early studies that 50mg L-theanine naturally stimulates alpha-waves in the brain. These are the same activity in the brain that is enhanced through meditation!
Two to three cups a day of ZHI TEA will provide about 50-60mg of L-theanine, safely and naturally.
Gail Owen, a bio psychologist and Lead Scientist at the Beverages Global Technology Centre in the United Kingdom and says “Research is showing that the alertness felt by drinking tea throughout the day has always been attributed to the existence of caffeine, we now believe that there is another component in tea which is responsible for the unique effect that people feel from tea and that is L-theanine.
“L-theanine is a natural component found almost exclusively in tea. It is shown to promote alpha brain waves in the brain which are associated with a relaxed yet alert state of mind. This state is often predominant in successful sportspeople. With a relaxed yet alert state of mind, a desirable state for thinking and operating is created.
“Imagine if you could produce a state of mental clarity simply by drinking tea, the world’s most popular natural drink, second to water.”
Indeed. One more reason to relax and enjoy another cup!
