One of the best Earl Greys out there!

This tea was a real surprise, I forgot I had it, someone had very kindly gifted me a tin and as An English Woman Abroad - I must shamefully admit I have no teapot currently, so left the loose tea in the cupboard all year. Desperation led me to brew the tea in a Pyrex jug with a saucer on top and strain through a sieve - worked a treat as the leaves are large. Has a strong neroli/lavender taste, which is very refreshing so a great afternoon tea. Is this really $24.95 USD!!!??? My friend was very generous when I asked her to bring me some organic Earl Grey next time she visited! Wish it was cheaper, I'd drink it all the time. However a little goes a long way and I recycled the leaves for a second brew.

I found the bergamot overpowering and clumsy.

I was shocked to find that bergamot was an orange-type flavoring. Earl Grey has always been a favorite of mine, and this a lovely organic version.

I bought a pound and though while a tad pricy, it is very very good.

This did the trick. My hubby was such a grouch about his Earl Gray until we got this as a gift. He says it is the best and I have to agree, even though I like my green earl grey better.

A really oustanding Earl. Perfectly balanced and mild. Yummers.

Hint: Slightly more leaf and shorter steep time is really smooth.

Water: 208°F | Leaves: 1 tsp per 6 ounce cup | Infusion Time: 3-4 minutes

Basic Steeping Tips
- Use filtered or spring water, whenever possible
- Don’t overboil water
- Remove leaves after recommended time (adjust to taste)
- If you want stronger tea, use more leaves instead of steeping for a longer time
Leaves can be resteeped 2-3 times resulting in various flavor differences. Don’t throw out those leaves until they have given it all up!
Black tea has a class of polyphenols that protect your bones and teeth (help the body from pulling calcium) and is good for your heart. Black tea contains antioxidants and about 1/3 the amount of caffeine as found in a cup of coffee.
Contrary to popular belief, Earl Grey is not a particular type of tea, but rather a plain black tea infused with oil of bergamot. It is a British tea and is the most popular tea of the western world. This tea dates back to the 19th century, and is named after the 2nd Earl Grey, British Prime Minister in the 1830s. According to legend, a grateful Chinese bureaucrat, whose son was saved from drowning by one of Lord Grey’s men first presented the tea to the Earl in 1803. However, according to Jacksons of Piccadilly, a London tea house, claims to have invented the original recipe for Earl Grey tea after given a special order from Lord Grey.
