The first few cups mainly tasted like tangerine, which was pleasant enough. I quickly realized I wasn't getting any berries in the steepings. When I did get a berry in my scoop, I didn't really like the taste the berry added. It's a sort of earthy or metal taste (but no "metallic tang" aftertaste). I've discovered that the berry flavor tasted better when the tea was cold.

I love this tea for the flavor but also for the health benefits. The shizandra berry is said to be loaded with antioxidants. A cup of this tea is a perfect way to start the day.

Great tea. White leaves of indian tea and some berries. Almost spicy but not quite.

There is a weird peppery flavor in this...quite a pick-me-up for a white tea.

A very good white tea. Cold is good for this one.

Hint: Use more leaves for a stronger, more satisfying taste.

Water: 195°F | Leaves: 1 heaping Tbsp per 12 ounce cup | Infusion Time: 3-4 minutes

Basic Steeping Tips
- Use filtered or spring water, whenever possible
- Don’t overboil water
- Remove leaves after recommended time (adjust to taste)
- If you want stronger tea, use more leaves instead of steeping for a longer time
Leaves can be re-steeped 2-3 times resulting in various flavor differences. Don’t throw out those leaves until they have given it all up!

Shizandra has been used for healing purposes for over 2000 years. It is one of the many traditional Chinese herbs that are recommended for coughs and various nonspecific pulmonary diseases.

Recent studies have shown that Shizandra possesses the following properties: anti-bacterial, cardiac tonic, antioxidant and anti-depressant. It also contains phytoestrogens, which help menopausal women to treat cardiovascular diseases. Among the other diseases Shizandra is known to treat include insomnia, irritation, palpitation, and dyspnea. It is also used for the treatment of skin disorders and as a sedative. Shizandra is also rich in minerals, vitamins, and essential oils.

The Shizandra fruit is known as “wu wei zi” in Chinese, meaning “five taste fruit” because it has a sweet, salty, bitter, hot, and sour taste.
