By popular demand we have created an enticing, simple and luxurious flavored oolong. We have simply taken our stunning Bao Zhong and added essence of sweet, young coconut. The result is creamy smooth, silky sweet, with a long round finish.

Traditionalists would herald this move as blasphemous! Well, to be true, I shuddered when faced with the prospect of flavoring such an already great tea.

But I like to not only try, but create, new tastes. So, we did it. And the coconut freaks that we are, as well as known oolong fanatics, we could hardly resist the temptation.

So add another coconut tea to our list! We hope you love it as much as we do.

The base tea is one of our Artisan Reserve oolong teas, a line of small batch handmade teas from a craft handed down over generations. Hand selected for having all the hallmark qualities of the highest grades with notable personality accents.

Long twisted, lightly oxidized oolong with distinct floral notes and a long, sweet finish.

    A Wonderful Coconut Baozhong.

This is a wonderful and addictive tea. When I first tried it my initial impression was coconut... a beautiful and pure coconut. The more that I drank it and experimented with it the more I began to taste the layers of flavor, the smooth Balzhong coexisting with the coconut. Balzhong tea is very light, and lower in caffeine than more oxidized Oolong teas, so you can drink a lot of it without feeling wired.

The Balzhong itself is of very high-quality, with a low percentage of stems. The fragrance of both the dry leaf and the tea liquor is absolutely delightful. Really, the blenders and tasters at the Zhi Tea really have a gift for making superb flavored teas. The flavorings are very pure, and they are applied with great subtlety and artfulness to the smooth base teas. I am thoroughly satisfied with this tea.

After reading about all of the healing properties that oolong tea has, I decided to give this tea a try. I am new to oolongs so I ordered a couple other oolong samples too. I like the mild coconut flavor, but not so much the tea. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't me. My two favorite coconut teas are Coconut Assam (I give it seven billion stars) and Ambrosia (a white tea).

Gorgeous oolong with honest coconut essence= 5 1/2 stars

Believe the product description....I brought this tea to share at my work, and it thoroughly impressed my coworkers. One of them is such a tea connoisseur that he arrived on his first day with his cast iron tea kettle...and in his words, this tea is "Maui-wau-zi".

    unbelievably great

I had a feeling I would love this tea when the designer of it described himself as a "coconut freak" and an 'oolong fanatic', two monikers I can definitely relate to. I am a big fan of simple, traditional teas, but I do love a well executed blend, and I have to say, Zhi really nailed it with this one.

I don't know how they blended coconut in so smoothly, but it has to be experienced to be believed. The smell is divine, yet the taste does not overpower the tea. The oolong is the dominant flavor I notice, while the coconut comes across as a subtle, sweet, rich, undertone.

Great job Zhi! This will definitely be one of my staples.

Water: 185-190°F | Leaves: 2 teaspoons per 12 ounce cup | Infusion Time: 3 minutes. Add 30 seconds for each subsequent steep.

Basic Steeping Tips
- Use filtered or spring water, whenever possible
- Don’t overboil water
- Remove leaves after recommended time (adjust to taste)
- If you want stronger tea, use more leaves instead of steeping for a longer time.
Leaves can be resteeped 2-3 times resulting in various flavor differences. Don’t throw out those leaves until they have given it all up!
Polyphenol in oolong tea may be effective in controlling weight. It activates the enzyme that is responsible for dissolving triglycerides. Studies have confirmed that a 2-3 cup per day intake of oolong tea contributes to enhancing the function of fat metabolism and controlling obesity.
Only tea grown in Ping Ling county in Northern Taiwan and processed in a specific style can be considered pure Bao Zhong. Bao Zhong is harvested during spring (March – April) and winter (October – November). After the tea leaves have sprouted, they are plucked and left to dry in the sun for a few hours to reduce moisture. Then the leaves are delicately rolled sideways while being roasted to minimize the oxidation and allow the leaves to maintain a vibrant, green color. Traditional techniques such as hand processing and wrapping the leaves in paper before roasting are still used today.
