A recent strain of tea, created in 1980 by Zhen Zhe Wu to boost the Taiwanese tea economy. Quickly, what is known here as Jade Oolong, this tea has become very popular in Taiwan and Europe. And rightly so.
It has a nice bright, floral character with an incredibly long sweet finish. Slightly nutty upfront, very floral, buttery, and smooth. The color of the tea liquor is indeed jade-like and richly aromatic. This is a year-round favorite here, enjoyed by the connoisseurs and novices alike.
One of our Artisan Reserve oolong teas, a line of small batch handmade teas from a craft handed down over generations. Hand selected for having all the hallmark qualities of the highest grades with noteable personality accents. 20-25% oxidized.
This tea was grown at 600 meters, harvested in March of 2009, and is stored in a vacuum seal. This particular batch exceeds all expectations in color, cup, aroma, steep, and leaf quality. Lightly roasted and perfectly sweet, this oolong reveals itself over several steepings. Hand crafted and grown organically in Taiwan and certified MOA.

Basic Steeping Tips
- Use filtered or spring water, whenever possible
- Don’t over-boil water
- Remove leaves after recommended time (adjust to taste)
- If you want stronger tea, use more leaves instead of steeping for a longer time.
Leaves can be re-steeped 2-3 times resulting in various flavor differences. Don’t throw out those leaves until they have given it all up!
Polyphenol in oolong tea is effective in controlling weight. It activates the enzyme that is responsible for dissolving triglycerides. Studies have confirmed that a 2-3 cup per day intake of oolong tea contributes to enhancing the function of fat metabolism and controlling obesity.

Jade Oolong (Tai Cha NO.13)
Jade Oolong was officially named Tai Cha No.13 in 1982 by the Tea Research and Extension Station (TRES). The Tag on the
testing farm is “2029”. Therefore we also called this tea and named it 29 before TRES give it the name “Cui Yu” in Chinese.
This lightly oxidized Jade Oolong tea has a smooth golden green infusion enjoyed by Oolong tea lovers. The tea is growing at the 500 meter mountain height. It has strong flowery aroma, very like magnolia flower.
Once infused, these unfurl to release this tea's delicate notes, exquisite flavor and enchanting fragrance.
The 2 of the renew oolong, Jade oolong and Jin Xuan oolong was found by Dr. Zhen Zhe Wu who was the former president of TRES. It is re-created the tea market in 1980 when the tea in the peak sales. It brings tea to the new period from his found. He is one of the most important people so we called him a “Father of the Taiwan tea”. He was dread in 1993.
